Massy, southern capital of the Grand Paris project

Massy’s exceptional serving and its attractive and dynamic way of life seduce individuals as well as companies and contribute to help this city of 50,000 inhabitants with 80 different nationalities become the southern capital of the GRand Paris project.

STRUCTURING FACILITIES

Massy has multiple sport and cultural facilities used by over 350 associations. The city welcomes the only suburb Opera in France, a European renowned cultural center of contemporary music (Paul B) and counts two media libraries. Multiple high level sports clubs proudly wear the city’s colours and evolve among the Elite using specific facilities of regional size : rugby, handball, rockclimbing…

AN ATTRACTIVE WAY OF LIFE

Massy counts 160 out of 943 hectares of green space spread out over the city. Massy also owns three ponds (Goachères, Blanchette and Tuilerie), parks and public gardens where one can take a walk during sunny days… alone or with family.

A UNIQUE SERVING IN ÎLE-DE-FRANCE

The multimodal sector allows an access to the Massy-TGV station which serves 40 destinations in France, the already existing lines RER B and RER C and to several tens of bus lines that serve different neighbourhoods in the city as well as neighbour cities. An exceptional serving soon to be expanded with the Tram-train T12 commissioning expected by 2022 and the metro line (Ligne 18) of the Grand-Paris Express by 2026. Enough to attract multiple companies.

ESSONNE’S ECONOMIC CAPITAL

Nowadays, Massy welcomes over 2,600 private companies which represents more than 31,000 jobs. Multiple companies decided to have their headquarters in our city like Carrefour, Alstom, Orange, SFR, Sagem, Thalès, Ericsson, CGG… Massy has also a dense network of (very) small businesses, SMEs and innovatives programs such as « Le 30 » of the Agglomeration Community Paris-Saclay or the WAI BNP Massy-Saclay which support innovative startups and young entrepreneurs. This way, Massy daily confirms its status as Essonne’s economic capital, looking forward.

Villaine, Vilgénis, Bièvre Poterne

Along a green infrastructure, the neighbourhood of Villaine welcomes the city’s second meidalibrary, a pool, tennis courts and a pediment.

In June 2018, the 18-hectare new natural area Vilgénis opened to the public. Nearby, an urban project is under development with public facilities (school groups, nurseries and stadiums), shops and housing blocks.

Downtown Massy

The city’s historical neighbourhood with its cobblestone streets and its old steeple, downtown Massy welcomes the city hall and convenience stores. Each sunday, its main street (rue Gabriel Péri) is closed to traffic.

Massy-Opéra, Petit Massy, la Paix, les Champarts

The neighbourhood takes its name from the presence of the Opéra de Massy, the only suburb opera in France. Sports facilities (swimmingpool, rugby and football (soccer) fields, roller track, BMX track…), a hospital, convenience stores, a medialibrary, an art cinema, a 40-hectare urban park, Massy-Opéra will also welcome a metro station (ligne 18), by 2027. There are multiple ongoing operations in this changing neighbourhood : new gymnasium, local area, new market…

Atlantis

Nearby the two stations in Massy and the TGV train station, this dense and mixed urban neighbourhood presents tertiary activity (great groups such as Carrefour, Safran, Crédit Agricole Finance, Ericsson…), public facilities, green areas and housing. In its heart is located the Place du Grand Ouest where a 9-screening room Multiplex Pathé Gaumont, a Palais des Congrés and multiple restaurant chains.

Pileu, Graviers, Vilmorin, Square du Clos de Villaine

Located on the former Vilmorin nurseries’ frields, nearby the RER C station, the VILMORIN neighbourhood was conceived in order to create a mixed residential area of apartments and houses. A market, multiple restaurants and shops are part of the neighbourhood’s contemporary charm as well.

International relations

For 15 years, the twinning committee, in partnership with the city of Massy, is developping a friendship and cooperation network with Ascoli Piceno, in the Marche Italian region.

This beautiful adventure allowed over 2,000 Massicois to discover our twin city. Multiple cultural and sport associations have met their Italian counterparts. Hundreds of group trips were organized and a class from Massy goes each year since the beginning of the twinning.

Nowadays, this twinning wishes to take it up to the next level by proposing new activities to inject a real Italien mind in Massy. Conferences on Italian art, culinary discoveries… If you are interested in Italy as well, the twinning opens its doors to you.
